First African American Female Civilian Supervisor 189th Security Forces Squadron 189th Airlift Wing

Dora J. Williams:

Miss Dora Williams graduated from Bald Knob High School in Bald Knob, Arkansas in 1978. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Public Relations in 1985 from Arkansas State University at Jonesboro.

Miss Williams entered the 189th Airlift Wing, Air National Guard in September of 1987. She served 14 years in the enlisted ranks. In January 1989 she became a full-time State employee at the 189th Security Forces Squadron where she served in various positions. She was the first African American female to serve as a full-time Civilian Supervisor in the 189th Security Squadron. Additionally, she served as a member of the Commander Support Staff and the Administrative Assistant at 189th Security Forces Squadron. Other assignments included the 189th Airlift Wing Information Security Program Manager, Personnel Security Manager, Unit Deployment Manager, Unit Career Advisor, Personnel Craftsman and as an Administrative Specialist.

In 2009, she was chosen as the Outstanding Air Reserve Component Security Forces Civilian Employee for both the Air National Guand and the United States Air Force.
